I met Bec almost a year ago when I attended my first pub painting class.
Bec's kind and caring character shone through immediately and her positivity and encouragement made me feel like I could actually paint!
Her 'assistant' James, who is also the entertainer, is just as kind hearted and encouraging as Bec is. A wonderful duo to be around.
The pub scene wasn't really my thing, so I was super excited when they announced they'd be running their own classes in a more relaxed and calming environment.
They are an incredible team, making every painter feel special and helping us complete paintings we are all very proud of.
I think I've counted about 12 paintings done so far and they are all hanging on my walls... looks like I might need a bigger home!
I'd like to thank Bec and James for the wonderful afternoons spent together, laughing and creating art and especially for allowing me to disconnect from the rest of the world for a few hours. I will be back for more!

Classes are informal & friendly with a professional set-up at an affordable price.
I had never painted before & walked out of my first class relaxed & very pleased with my masterpiece - now I look forward to each upcoming class.
With no equipment needed, it makes it so easy to just show up, enjoy a peaceful couple of hours & walk out with knowledge & enthusiasm to continue your journey as an artist, (& your own masterpiece to show off!).

I am the most analytical person in the world - my job is even in banking - so if you had told me when I first met Bec and James that I could paint I would have been shocked. I met these guys because I fell in love with one of Bec's paintings and bought it from her. Since then I have attended every class possible from the very first, some with my 10 year old son who is very creative....
The classes are full of like minded people who don't judge your work and the ambience in the room is peaceful and engaging. Bec runs through how to do each painting step by step and teaches you techniques while James provides comic relief all while making sure your paints are refilled and there's always light hearted conversation. Once you have a few techniques, it's really easy to get creative at home and try a few things yourself! A painters dream is a perfect class for anyone wanting to learn how to paint while still keeping every piece individual. It gives you a chance to relax and have some downtime, be mindful of the present and unwind, meet new like minded people and learn a new skill. For me the kids classes have been a highlight being able to do classes with my son and watch him learn how to expand on something he loves has been wonderful.
I can't recommend these classes enough to anyone wanting to find a way to relax, try a new skill or meet new people. Thanks Bec and James for letting me share your journey from the very start.

I've had the opportunity to attend both a public event and a private event with Bec as the artist and she has made it fun, engaging and most importantly, achievable! It's such a great way to
de-stress, catch up with friends and get the creative juices flowing.

This painting class is brilliant. I have done it a few times and also gifted my whole family a painting class for Christmas 2017.
It is just lovely to take time out and do something creative, unfortunately there is not much of that in day-to-day life.
A wonderful mindfulness and social activity, with fun, friendly and professional teachers. Highly recommended!

After a date at a painting class, Rebecca Edwards and her partner James de Vries became enthusiastic about bringing this kind of shared, therapeutic experience to other people. “Rebecca introduced me to the painting experience when we went to a painting class as one of our first dates and I loved it,” James recalls. From here, the idea for A Painter’s Dream was brought to life.

With just a few brushstrokes, you can paint your cares away at a new art class in Sandgate. A Painter’s Dream, run by local couple, James and Rebecca de Vries, is offering a painting class with a difference, just in time for Christmas. “What we really focus on is health and well-being and selfcare,” James said. “You don’t need to be an experienced artist or painter, anyone can come along.”
Participants will take home their own original artwork titled 'Dragonfly Moon'. “We paint right alongside the group and it’s an easy step-by-step process,” Rebecca said. “We’re with you from start to finish and you’re free to add anything else you like to the painting – change the colours, or add in some smaller dragonflies or butterflies. “We get a lot of people who are nervous, but it’s a chance to explore something different.
